This page explains, in plain language, what personal information this website collects, why we collect it, who else sees it, and how you can have it removed. We are a manufacturer of professional stage lighting, not a data business — we collect the minimum needed to answer your enquiry and to understand which pages are useful.

1. Who we are

This website, www.gdbmslighting.com, is operated by Guangdong BMS Lighting & Audio Co., Ltd. (广东宝玛仕灯光音响有限公司), a stage lighting manufacturer registered in the People’s Republic of China. For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR, we are the data controller for personal data collected through this website.

As a company established in the People’s Republic of China, we also handle personal information in accordance with the PRC Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL). Where PIPL and the GDPR impose different requirements, we apply the standard that gives you the stronger protection.

2. What information we collect

Information you give us

  • Enquiry form. Your name, email address, telephone number, company name, subject line and the message you write. Only name, email and message are required — everything else is optional.
  • Newsletter sign-up. Your email address only.
  • Direct contact. Anything you send us by email, telephone or WhatsApp, including attachments such as drawings, fixture lists or site photographs.

Information collected automatically

When you browse the site we record anonymous usage statistics. These do not identify you by name:

  • Approximate location derived from your IP address (country and city level only — we do not store the full IP address in our reports)
  • Device type, browser, operating system and screen size
  • Pages viewed, time on page, and the website or search term that referred you
  • Which contact actions you click — email link, telephone link, WhatsApp, a file download, or a video play button

We do not collect payment card details (we do not sell online through this website) and we do not ask you to create an account. We do not knowingly collect any special-category data.

3. Why we use it, and on what legal basis

We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not build advertising profiles. We never sell or rent personal data.

What we do not do with your enquiry details

We do not add enquirers to a mailing list, and we do not use your enquiry email address to send bulk marketing. Replying to your enquiry, answering follow-up questions and sending the quotation you asked for are part of handling your request — they are not marketing.

If you want product news, subscribe to the newsletter separately; that is a separate consent you can withdraw at any time. If we ever want to email past enquirers about a new product range, we will ask for your permission first, and we will stop as soon as you ask us to.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We keep cookies to the minimum. The site is fully readable with cookies blocked.

Analytics cookies are switched off until you accept them. The site runs Google Consent Mode v2: for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage are denied by default, and Google’s tags send only cookieless, aggregated pings until you press “Accept all” in the banner. Visitors elsewhere are measured normally. Your choice is remembered in your browser’s local storage (a single entry named bms-cookie-consent — it is a preference flag, not a tracking cookie) and you can change or withdraw it at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page.

This is everything that can be set:

CookieSet byPurposeLifetime
_gaGoogle Analytics 4 (we use G-R8W9SXK6KQ)Distinguishes one anonymous visitor from anotherUp to 2 years
_ga_R8W9SXK6KQGoogle Analytics 4Keeps session state for the same anonymous visitorUp to 2 years
Video player cookiesThe third-party video platform that hosts our embedded videosOnly if you press play on a product or corporate video. The player is loaded directly from that platform’s servers, so it is outside our control. Our videos are currently hosted on Bilibili and are being migrated to YouTube, which is a Google service.Set by the video platform

We do not currently use advertising, remarketing or social-media tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party advertising pixels on this website. Should we begin advertising — for example on Google — any advertising or conversion cookie will be set only after you accept it in the cookie banner, this page will be updated before that happens, and you will always be able to decline without losing access to any part of the site.

How to control cookies

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its privacy settings — look for “Cookies and site data”. Blocking the analytics cookies has no effect on your ability to browse, contact us or request a quotation. Like most analytics tools, our reports are based on aggregate, anonymous figures, so blocking them does not remove you from anything you would notice.

5. Who else sees your information

We use a small number of service providers (“processors”) that handle data strictly on our instructions, for the purposes listed above:

ProviderWhat they doWhere they operate
Tencent EdgeOneHosts the website and delivers it through a content delivery networkEdge nodes worldwide
FormSubmit.coReceives the website forms and forwards them to our mailboxUnited States
Google LLC (Google Analytics 4)Produces anonymous usage statistics for this siteServers worldwide
Video hosting platforms — currently Bilibili, migrating to YouTube (Google LLC)Stream embedded product and corporate videos — only when you click playChina / worldwide

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. Other than that, your information stays with us.

6. International transfers

We are based in China and several of our providers operate outside it. Where personal data of visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland is transferred outside those regions, we rely on the safeguards offered by those providers, such as standard contractual clauses or an equivalent approved mechanism. You can ask us for details of the safeguard used for a particular transfer by writing to contact@bmslighting.com.

7. How long we keep it

Enquiry form submissionsUp to 24 months from our last contact — so that we can pick up a project that was paused, or a repeat order
Newsletter email addressUntil you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression record so we do not re-add you
Anonymous analytics data14 months
Order, invoice and customs recordsAs long as Chinese accounting and tax law requires

When a retention period ends we delete the records, or — where we still need the figures for statistics — we irreversibly anonymise them so they no longer relate to you. In practice we review the enquiry mailbox once a year and clear anything older than the period above. Asking us to delete your data does not remove it from commercial documents we are legally required to keep.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — ask for a copy of what we hold about you
  • Correction — have inaccurate details put right
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your data, where we do not need to keep it for a legal reason
  • Restriction — ask us to pause using it while a question is resolved
  • Portability — receive the data you gave us in a machine-readable format
  • Objection — object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including analytics
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, where consent is the basis (for example the newsletter)

To exercise any of these, email contact@bmslighting.com with the subject line “Data request”. We will respond within 30 days and we will not charge you. If you are not satisfied, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority — though we would rather hear from you first.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we have not done so in the previous twelve months. You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to delete it, and ask us to correct it. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

9. How we protect your information

The site is served over HTTPS with an encrypted connection throughout. Access to our enquiry mailbox is limited to the sales staff who handle enquiries, protected by two-factor authentication. Form submissions are transmitted to a single company mailbox rather than stored in a public database. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we collect very little about you, which limits what there is to protect.

10. Children

This is a business-to-business website for professional lighting equipment. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly. This policy was last reviewed on 23 October 2026.

12. Contact us about privacy
